The golden age of aviation coincided with the Great Depression. Although the depression had tremendously negative effect on global economy, two fearless American aviators emerged to take back the long distance record from France. The pilot Russell Norton Boardman was once a cowboy, motorcyclist and a stunt pilot for Hollywood movies and his companion co-pilot John Lewis Polando was an aircraft mechanic with more than 10 years of aeronautical experience; together they found a way to fulfil a lifelong dream. Their Bellanca brand monoplane called ”Cape Cod” was literally a flying bomb with the take-off weight consumed two-thirds fuel it trundled down Floyd Bennett, NY airfield in the early morning of July 28, 1931. Boardman and Polando loaded 16 copies of the New York Times on board. These were to be parachuted over various cities as a mean of communicating with the world. They had never flown outside the United States before. Their objective was to fly from New York to Istanbul. It was to be the longest distance ever flown in history. They were unreported from land or sea for two nights and a day. What they lacked in equipment such as battery, radio, parachutes or navigation lights was compensated with plenty of determination and steely courage.

Macabre Faire Film Festival Mission:
To provide a respectful, competitive, celebratory and affordable film fest event that is judged by a panel for independent filmmakers to enter their Strange-ifical, Weird-ifical, Horror-ifical, Sci-fi-tastical, Fantastical and Macabre-licious films to be viewed by the fans with the opportunity to win awards, increase film visibility via press and possibly obtain distribution. All this while maintaining manageable entry fees.
What's it all about?
TwitchTwitch Productions presents Long Island's only Macabre Faire Film Festival 2x a year with its main focus always being the "Official Selections" and its filmmakers/crew.
For starters the word "Macabre" is pronounced: Ma-Cob. The "re" is hardly ever heard. What does it mean?
Although it is an adjective meaning: disturbing and horrifying because of involvement with or depiction of death and injury, we usually approach the Macabre Faire Film Festival with a lighter touch in the sense that, not all of the films screened have been a gore fest. Of course, there isn't anything wrong with adding some gore to a macabre film fest but, when we hear the word "Macabre" we remember those hauntingly fascinating films that starred legendary greats such as: Vincent Price & Peter Cushing. Or those fantastic Gothic horrors like those from "Hammer" films. These names in themselves represent what "macabre" means to us. What we are saying is that the word "Macabre" doesn't have to be about the hardcore gore, violence or scare but instead it could be about what you don't see or hear but, somehow manages to reach your fear's core. Let's also not forget those fantasy films or comedies with their horror twists. Truth be told that those exist too and yes, we welcome them. How can we not? Would you have turned down something like "The Evil Dead's: Army of Darkness" which is both a fantasy, a comedy and a horror wrapped into a tight burrito? Yeah, we wouldn't either. So folks, this is what many of the films selected for the Macabre Faire Film Festival have to offer. About the only thing we may have to say "No Thanks" to would be a romantic comedy/drama... unless, there's a monster or weird dark force that takes over then we may reconsider.
We have had judges and guests such as director Stevan Mena "Bereavement", Eileen Dietz "The Exorcist", Doug Jones "Hell Boy", Cleve Hall "Monster Man", Michael Gingold "Fangoria", Nick Nicholson "CNN Film Critic", Evan Ginzburg "The Wrestler" and others.
Trophies & Award Certificates will be presented.
Also note: Elsie Ginsberg is currently the Acquisitions Manager for the popular interactive live streaming: www.MonsterChannel.Tv With this said, all films submitted to the Macabre Faire Film Festival become eligible to be part of the channel's programming. All films will undergo review by the Monster Channel's additional management team for consideration. If a film is not chosen as an Official Selection for the Macabre Faire Film Festival this does not mean that the film may not be considered for programming on the Monster Channel. Forms from Fourth Castle that grants permission to showcase your film to Monster Channel's captured audience can be found with the Film Fest forms at: www.MacabreFaireFilmFest.com
Keep in mind, the Monster Channel is a bonus feature to submitting your film to the Macabre Faire Film Festival and completely optional. Programming shall begin streaming on the Monster Channel of the selected original films by the later part of 2013.
The Macabre Faire Film Festival currently takes place at the Best Western Mill River Manor Hotel in Rockville Centre, NY offering 3 screening rooms. This allows us to screen between 25-50 films per event (totals vary according to amount of days allocated for the event). It is presented by our umbrella company "TwitchTwitch Productions" which is family owned and operated. The brand "Macabre Faire" may be recognized by many because of it's affiliation with the "Macabre Faire" convention-like party events that take place through out the year occasionally for a weekend long gathering.
Our Macabre Faire events and Film Festival have a reputation for being a very friendly environment with a wonderful celebratory ambiance within an intimately sized space. Here's what Fox 5 News had to say about it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oVRMl4BQwQ&feature=share
