Boys, Texas, a mock election, what could go wrong? Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner for 2020, BOYS STATE, chronicles 1100 eager teenage mini-men as they vie for a week-long bid to make their own state government, in this Apple Original to hit theaters on July 31.
Directed by Jesse Moss and Amanda McBaine, this all-male shindig down in the Lone Star State may come off as tone-deaf in a ‘woke,’ hashtag MeToo environment, but boys wi...
Well, they can’t all be good. Koko-Di-Koko-Da is a film that was so intriguing on paper that it was one of the first films I actively secured a ticket for. It’s a Swedish horror flick that tracks the brutal process of grief and the damage it does to a relationship. At best, the films absurdities serve as a metaphor for this sentiment. At worst, the absurdities merely serve as aesthetic pageantry to keep the viewer awake.
Essentially, it is a cheaply made horror film with a groundh...
This film is everything you should expect by now from a film starring Julianne Moore and Michelle Williams. Every scene with them both in it has an energy not many could match. The emotional restraint in Williams' performance forces the audience to quiver while Moore's erratic and abusive behavior steers a ship that is stuck in a storm. Abby Quinn delivers a show-stopping performance as a daughter caught between her parents lies. She may be the most slept-on aspect of the show. No...

Moral: We are aware of only one life, and to make the most of it, we must perform all our good deeds before it is too late. The doha, by secular Saint KabeerDaas goes, “Kaal karey so aaj kar, Aaj karey so ab’, whi...

Mumbai Mantra-CineRise Screenwriting Programme 2015: It all begins with a story, and then …
Names, names and more names. And frankly, Anjum Rajabali, should consider an alternate career as a compère. Not many could rattle off name after name of film personalities and their films with such élan and in such fluent English. And even then, had the audience at the J.W. Marriott, Juhu, Mumbai, not already partaken of a sumptuous Sunday-morning breakfast, it would have found it ...

If you saw Margot at the Wedding (2007), you know Jennifer Jason Leigh has lately developed incredible charm and depth, but in director Jane Weinstock's new movie The Moment, she is outstanding.
Her performance as Lee, the divorced war photographer who spirals into post-traumatic distress with psychotic aspects, is nothing short of clinically brilliant.
When Leigh as Lee says "I can't trust what I am seeing," ...
